Crab Cakes a la Me

Over the years I have been fortunate to be married to a great cook, tonight Susie asked me to cook dinner for us.  With her guidance, I cooked dinner from start to finish.

Crab cakes with a Remoulade Sauce, French Fries and a Spring Salad.

I first made the remoulade sauce using, chopped celery and onion, horse radish, mayonaise, ketchup, worchester sauce, garlic powder, salt and pepper. I placed the sauce in the refrigerator to chill.

Next, I cleaned and sliced potatoes and fried them on the outside grill, once done I placed them in the oven to stay warm while I fixed the rest of the dinner.

French Fries on the grill outside.

After finishing the fries, I made the salad with spring salad, tomatoes and cheese.  The dressing was a vinegarette that we really enjoy.

After the salad was made, I melted some butter and added olive oil just enough to cover the bottom of the pan and placed the crab cakes in the pan on a low medium heat, about a 3 on a scale of 10. I seared the crab cakes for 5 minutes and then turned them over for 3 minutes. This created a nice crusty sear and was plenty of heat to warm the cake all the way through.

As the crab cakes were cooking I got out the dishes to plate the food.

The food turned out great, I really enjoyed doing this for the first time with Susie's help.  Who knows:
Maybe the Next Iron Chef ?
